The IUPUI Spirit Website is an amazing source of info about all things IUPUI. You'll learn about famous alumni, campus history, the fight song, campus hangouts, jargon you'll need to know to succeed, and a lot more.

Over a century of history

IUPUI was born in 1969, but its roots extend back more than a century. The current campus grew around Indiana University's medical campus, including the School of Medicine (the second-largest in the nation), the School of Nursing (the largest in the U.S.), the School of Dentistry and the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences.

In 1969, the Indianapolis-based programs of Indiana University and Purdue University were merged to form IUPUI. Most IU programs already were on the Michigan Street campus; all Purdue programs moved to the main campus by the 1990s.
