About

The Spanish-speaking population in the United States continues to flourish. Spanish is now the most common non-English language spoken in Indiana, and speaking it has become a hugely desirable skill in the workplace.

Studying Spanish will teach you to communicate with Spanish speakers in the workplace, at home, or abroad, understand the cultural practices of other peoples, and appreciate the nature of language itself. You're likely to find that learning another language helps you to better understand your own!

Introductory and intermediate course series are designed to provide non-majors with an exploration into the Spanish language and Hispanic culture as an essential component of a liberal arts education. These courses aim to develop an interest in the language and the people who speak it, as well as prepare you for a variety of careers with international dimensions.

The advanced curriculum prepares you to communicate orally and in writing on the different content areas that comprise the study of Spanish, providing you with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in your future career, meet your academic and personal goals, and prepare you for graduate work.
